Dear Members of the IGEO Family!
About eight months ago, the elected Vice-chair of IGEO, Prof. Clara Vasconcelos, resigned for health reasons. Sincethen, IGEO has had no Vice-chair. Unfortunately, no serious attempt has been made so far to conduct the election for a new Vice-chair. Therefore, the Senior Officers’ Committee decided by majority to hold the election for the vacant post as soon as possible.
On November 4, 2021, the IGEO Executive Committee invited applications from eligible candidates for the position. However, we realized that the call did not reach a few council members and the information was not disseminated properly to all the IGEO members. In light of this, the IGEO Executive Committee is now inviting fresh applicationsfor the position. The notification is being sent to the entire IGEO family (comprising of more than 1300 members) through the interim newsletter and also published on the IGEO website (www.igeoscied.org).
The new deadline to submit the application is 17th January 2022. Those who have already applied for the position in response to the first call in November 2021 need not apply again. Their applications will be considered after January17, 2022. The applications may be emailed to Dr Anish Kumar Warrier, Secretary, IGEO (akwarrier@gmail.com) on or before the deadline. The details of the election process will be notified soon. It will be held online and one vote for each country will be only accepted. In addition, the voting window will remain open for one week.
