SEE => The sand on a sill collaborative IGEO research project

With the sand on the sill collaborative IGEO project we achieve three things:
(1) We develop and provide a teaching tool that relies on resources that are available all over the world, namely a coloured sandgrain.
(2) Teachers enhance their students thinking skills by using it in their classroom.
(3) Teachers can use it as a tool to evaluate the geo-thinking skills of their students and one day might even be able compare the students level of “geo-thinking” of their class with the level of “geo-thinking abilities of other students all over the world.

How do we identify best practice in geoscience education?

This action group will work in two steps:

(1) First of all we will summerize the characteristics of best practice in geoscience education. The list will be presented the IGEO community, discussed and improved. The result will be published here.

(2) We will then research for teaching resources and evaluate them using IGEOs list of characteristics. The ones that meet IGEOs aims will be published or linked to under the chapter “teaching resources”.
